ALFA ROMEO GT JUNIOR BESPOKE RESTORATION

Alfa Romeo GT Junior bespoke restoration

The Alfa Romeo 1300 GT Junior originally arrived at Classic Hangar for a three-month bespoke modification programme; however, inspection quickly revealed the need for a full bare-shell restoration. The result is one of the finest Alfa Romeo GT Juniors on the road today.

For the body restoration, the shell was stripped back to bare metal, with all floors replaced, the rear inner wheel arches renewed, the lower rear quarter panels replaced, and both door skins replaced. The entire body then received a full anti-corrosion treatment.

Bespoke body modifications included GTV-style vents, a smaller central grille, removal of the front bumper mounts, lightweight door handles and locks, a top-mounted fuel filler with the original filler door deleted, custom-designed and fabricated rear light mountings, a bespoke number-plate housing with integrated reversing light, removal of the rear bumper mounts, and heated front and rear screens.

Mechanical upgrades featured a fast-road, fuel-injected 1750 engine build with a cold-air intake system, cooling system improvements, a gearbox rebuild, extensive front and rear suspension handling modifications, big brake conversions front and rear, a complete brake system overhaul, a lightweight prop shaft, a differential upgrade, a bespoke high-pressure fuel system and an aluminium fuel cell with collector mounted over the rear axle.

Electrical modifications included upgraded headlights, redesigned rear lights, the screen wash bottle relocated to the boot, installation of an infotainment system, ECU installation, an electric cooling fan, heated screens and under-dash lighting.

The interior was also comprehensively reworked, featuring an Alcantara-covered dashboard with body-colour inserts, bespoke front seats, a bespoke-trimmed rear seat, custom door cards and rear quarter panels, bespoke door pulls, billet aluminium window winders and locks, modified seat-belt mountings, billet aluminium pedals and a leather steering wheel.
